Some Gorgeous Trails to Hike with a Cooler Bag or Backpack Cooler

The best backpack cooler or cooler bag makes a great hike even more enjoyable. Combining comfort, durability, accessibility and reliable ice retention, they enable adventurers to carry the snacks and drinks they will need to stay hydrated and keep their energy level high.

Here are some great trails where a high-quality cooler backpack or bag would be useful:

Eagle Falls Trail (Kentucky)

At a little under two miles, this trail at Kentucky’s Cumberland Falls State Park is not very long. Still, it is not without its challenges—the trail goes up 700 feet, which will give your legs a good workout. Eagle Falls Trail has a great payoff at the top of its steps and inclines, though: A gorgeous view of the Cumberland Falls, the “Niagara of the South.”

If you hike this trail in the Summertime, bring along your swimsuit or swim trunks and some drinks in a cooler bag.

Greenstone Ridge Trail (Michigan)

Want a hiking trip that gives you plenty of privacy? Head out to Michigan’s Isle Royale National Park, which is located on an island in the middle of Lake Superior. Isle Royale is home to this 40 mile-long trail, which stretches across the entire breadth of the island.

Seasoned backpackers should be able to trek the Greenstone within four or five days. Along the way, they will get some breathtaking views of Lake Superior as well as the smaller islands nearby.

Sculpture Falls Hike (Texas)

Is there anything cool that Austin does not have? Drive just six miles from downtown and you will come to Barton Creek Wilderness Park, which has this lovely, moderate, five-mile out-and-back trail. The end of Sculpture Falls Hike has a bonus for dog-owners too: A pooch-friendly swimming hole. You might want to take some water shoes along, though—there are lots of rocks in the water. Also, this trail can get a little busy, so watch out for joggers and mountain bikers.

Angel’s Landing (Utah)

An insulated backpack cooler will come in handy on this 2.4-mile trail in Utah’s Zion National Park. The name “Angel’s Landing” comes from the 1,488 foot-high rock formation at the end, which gives you an amazing 360° view of Zion’s Canyon. Be sure to pack lots of water, though—the summit is almost 6,000 feet above sea level, which can increase the risk of dehydration.
